Storms...

This week has been a tough week...Mark has been out of town all week, I am in a seasonal "funk" and to top it off I've had some less than stellar moments as a mother!

It seems I have forgotten our family creed "Stop Searching for Storms and Seek the Sunlight" In an effort to seek that Sunlight I wanted to try and change my "funk" and express my gratitude, to my Heavenly Father, for ALL that he has blessed me and my family with! I am OVERWHELMED at his unconditional love!
This week we have been reading one of my favorite sections in the Book of Mormon I am so grateful that each time I read this book I understand it more and find SO many applicable life lessons!

My cute mom celebrated her 82nd birthday this week!! I am so grateful for her and her faithful example! I aspire to be all that she is!!

I think this post helped me move a step closer to seeing that sunlight. I hope you can see your sunlight!!

With shame I publish the following post...

This week I caught a few seconds of an OPRAH episode; past guests, who were once in great physical shape, were now out of shape. They came on the show to admit their addiction to food and lack of exercise, in hopes that they could wipe the slate clean, stop living a lie and start on the road back to being in shape.
While I strive to eat well and exercise, I do have a bit of an addiction... okay... I meant to say a big addiction. In my quest to eat healthier and lower my cholesterol, I came across this Natural peanut butter cereal called BUMPERS. In the past 2 years, I probably account for 70% of their sales. The following pictures of myself might make you uncomfortable... but how will I ever start on the road to my recovery if I don't "out" myself with the ugly truth of what I've become?

So... what is your addiction?? what are you willing to admit? I don't think I'm alone? or am I?...come to think of it I might be alone after posting these pictures.

It's the Little Things...

The days of diapers, standing on the dishwasher door, chucking food, and instant smiles at the sight of my face, are long gone in this house. My motherly self esteem occasionally suffers from the eye rolling, "oh mom", and my favorite "your not pronouncing AEROPOSTALE right."
One of my many struggles/trials is every night when I spoon my man, I tend to dwell on my weaknesses and the things I'm doing wrong as a mother. This nightly ritual has produced absolutely NO positive benefit, for myself or my children. With the assistance of a cute husband, patient children, and a loving Heavenly Father I am trying to change this negative thought pattern.
So when I receive a gift, such as this plaque Brooke made, I see that I really am an okay mom...and... my self esteem is intact...even if I can't pronounce the name of certain retail stores.

I love you just the way you are...

We wanted to visualize what Mark would look like with hair...

I think he's better off without it!!

Happy New Year!!

What a BLAST!!!

Yesterday we drove to North Carolina with some of the seminary youth, to go skiing!! We had a great time!! This was Brynn, Brooke and Jack's first time skiing...Alec went skiing with Mark last year in Utah. Judging from yesterdays performance I think Brooke is destined for the National Ski Team!!
